This Anglo-Scandinavian brooch is based on a find from Pitney, England. Dated to around 1050-1100, this brooch incorporates elements of both Norse art through the Urnes style serpents in the center, and Anglo-Saxon borders and pearl elements.
The two intertwined serpents could be symbolism for the eternal battle between good and evil in the world, an ever present theme of Viking age mythology.
The brooch is 5 cm in diameter and have a pin on the back.
Material: Bronze.
