This set of brooches won the Tidal Acquisitive Art Prize 2020 at the Devonport Regional Gallery in Tasmania. The brooches reflect on the demise of the giant kelp forests in the seas surrounding Tasmania- over 90% of these undersea forests have disappeared in recent years as a result of warming seas and predation by introduced species.
The brooches are hand fabricated in fine silver and sterling silver, etched and treated with a patina. They are now part of the permanent collection of the Devonport Regional Gallery.
