Naval Air Station (NAS) Olathe, located in Kansas, was a key training facility for U.S. Navy pilots during World War II and into the post-war era. Among its various roles, NAS Olathe was notable for training pilots on the F4U Corsair.  During its operation, NAS Olathe trained more than 19,000 pilots.  This design was inspired by an F4U Corsair BuNo 97286.
